I retired from my advisory business four years ago; but Covid showed me how boring retirement could be, so I went back to work and started a new business that focused Hardstone as a broker between SMEs and private credit lenders who are aggressively competing with commercial banks for their loan business. 

Restrictive banking regulations, bank consolidation, profitability requirements and slow bureaucratic processes have led to tightened credit, frustration and missed opportunities for small and middle-market businesses in every industry. 
Billions of dollars from pension funds, business development companies (BDCs), insurance companies, endowments, hedge funds, family offices and high-net-worth-individuals are filling the void by lending directly to small businesses and offer much faster decision-making, more flexible payment schedules and unsecured credit terms that business-owners can't get from a traditional bank.
